For the first time in 34 years of its existence, the Charter is in the hands of a woman. During this year’s Mayors meeting held last Sunday in Ibănești, Romania, the official representatives of our member communities appointed Zsuzsanna Lukács as the new president. As one of the most familiar faces of Nagycenk, Hungary, Zsuzsanna has paved her way to the current position with hard work and commitment to the values of our network – from her beginnings in the Youth Co-ordination team, over being a member of the Presidium to writing successful EU projects that allowed numerous rural citizens of all generations to feel what the EU really is. Congratulations, Zsuzsanna Lukác, we have no doubt that you will steer this boat successfully into a new era of the Charter!
